Passport Photo for Government Job Applications
SSC, UPSC, IBPS, RRB and state PSC application portals all reject photos that are the wrong dimensions, over the KB cap, or saved as PNG. This page lists the exact photo and signature specs by recruiting body, plus how to generate compliant JPEGs in one go.

SSC application portal (ssc.nic.in / OTR)
SSC moved to a One-Time Registration (OTR) system — your photo and signature uploaded once are reused across all SSC exam applications. The OTR portal accepts JPEG only, with photo 20–50 KB and signature 10–20 KB. Once uploaded, you cannot change the photo for one year unless you pay a re-registration fee.
UPSC (upsconline.nic.in)
UPSC Civil Services and other UPSC notifications accept a larger photo and signature (up to 300 KB each). The photo must include the candidate's name and the date the photo was taken, printed at the bottom of the image. Our editor's UPSC preset places this caption automatically.
IBPS and RRB exams
IBPS PO, Clerk and RRB Officer Scale notifications use the standard 200 × 230 px photo and 140 × 60 px signature, under 50 KB and 20 KB respectively. RRB Group D and NTPC use slightly looser caps (15–40 KB photo).
All banking and railway exams also need a left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration uploaded as separate JPEG files. The same editor presets generate those too.
Generate everything in one session
Open our editor, pick the SSC / UPSC / IBPS preset, upload your photo and signature, and the tool produces the correctly sized JPEGs. Save the originals — if you also apply to other exams, you only need to recompress to the matching KB cap.
