Where Parivahan and Sarathi ask for the photo
After you fill the LL / DL application form on parivahan.gov.in or the state Sarathi portal, the next step asks for a photo and signature upload. Both files must be JPEGs within the listed KB range or the form will not submit.
If you visit the RTO in person for biometric capture, the on-the-spot photo replaces the uploaded one — but you still need a printed passport photo for the application form itself.
Photo and signature must match
The portal pairs your photo with a separate signature image. Use a black-ink signature on plain white paper, scan or photograph it, then crop tightly to the signature only. Our editor saves the signature as a 140 × 60 px JPEG under 20 KB automatically.
Common upload errors
If the portal throws 'File size exceeds limit', the photo is over 50 KB — compress and retry. 'Invalid file type' usually means a PNG or HEIC export from iPhone; convert to JPEG. 'Photo not clear' means the face is too small relative to the frame.
